Retroperitoneal Sarcoma

My husband was diagnosed with this horrible cancer in Nov.06. He had a Hernia Repair in Sept. 06 & just couldn't get his strength back. He was so tired, had no appetite and was losing weight. He lost 38 lbs. Then he started having severe pain in his stomach. Family dr. sent him to a stomach dr. (can't think of what he is called). He did an endoscopy & colonoscopy the same day. Didn't find anything but noticed his spleen was swolen. He did a CT scan the next day. After a couple of days he called and gave us the diagnosis. The surgeon did surgery after a couple of weeks. We literally watched the tumor grow in his stomach daily. He was in surgery for 4 hours. They took a 19 lb tumor out of his stomach, along with his left kidney, spleen, left adrenal gland and half of his pancreas. After a month of recuperating he started 6 weeks of radiation. That ended in Feb.07 and he is now back to work & gaining weight. This is a very rare cancer & almost always reoccurs locally. The Dr. says our big concern now is his lungs. This type of cancer historically attacks the lungs. He will do another scan on July 3rd. My husband still has a lot of pain in his stomach & it stays sore. He has all of the same symptoms as before except his appetite. He eats well. His biggest problem is burping & having a really bad test and smell in his mouth. The Dr. says this comes from the pancreas. Just wanted to share my story for anyone that may have or is experiencing the same thing.
