Pain after Esophagogastrecomy

I almost feel guilty posting this as it sounds like a complaint and lots of you have much worse problems. My situation: I am 56 years old. I HAD stage-1 adenocarcinoma in the esophagus. I had an esphagogastrectomy (Ivor-Lewis) July 2005. I had no radiation or chemo-therapy. The surgery was successful, recovery was very quick, and I was back on the bicycle one month to the day after surgery. I cycled over 2000 miles in the 12 months after surgery. I am still cycling. Though not easy, I can eat enough to maintain my weight and still cycle. Pet scans have come back negative. So what's the complaint? I have pain that, at times, borders on severe. It is around the site of the incision on the right chest and also in the abdomen. I can live with the chest pain, but the abdominal pain is very uncomfortable and stops me sometimes. Unlike the chest pain, it is very hard to pin point. It seems to have no distinct trigger point. The surgeon has referred me to several specialists, with no luck, and I go to the Cleveland Pain clinic next week.Has anyone else experienced this? Were you able to find relief? Good luck to all of you!
