Rexin-g

Stephanie,

My brother-in-law just got accepted for a trial using Rexin-G at the Mayo Clinic. Apparently, he was the first one in the states accepted for this trial.
He has pancreatic cancer. He started his treatments today, 10/19.

Rexin g Trial Worth Trying For my Father?

Mason,

My father has advanced pancreatic cancer and I have been looking for a good clinical trial or whatever will work best for him. Mayo clinic called me today to talk about this trial for Rexin G, they are having now. Any word on how your brother in law is doing in this, since I'm deciding if I should get my father into this. Thanks, Patrick101

Rexin-g Trial at Mayo

Mason-

How is your brother-in-law doing with the Rexin-G trial at Mayo? Has positive progress been made since he started in October? My brother, age 45, was just diagnosed with stage 4 PC and I'm looking for a miracle.

Rexin g

My mother has 4th stage colon cancer w/mets to the liver. She has not had any chemo since nov.2005 and started Rexin G in Dec. 2005. She has had several cycles and is doing well to date. She is not on clinical trial, instead she has had escalated dose to maximize efficacy of the vector. Rexin G has no bad side effects like chemo. It was well worth the cost. Mayo is doing clinical test specific to pancreatic cancer.

Rexin g Trial

Contact Mayo Clinic in Mn. They have 25 spots with 6 taken. My wife has PC and we are on gemzar an olixaliplaton (sp) which showed the tumor was smaller than 8 weeks earlier. We have investigated rexin g and see that as our next option. One limitaiton is that you can the 3rd gemzar combination therapys can eliminate you as a trial canadate.

Please let me know how things are going with the search or if you get on the rexin g.

Rexin g Outside of Clinical Trial

Theresa5.

You said your mother had Rexin G outside of a clinical trial and that it was worth the cost. Where? What was the cost? And what were the results? I understand that the Mayo clinical trial results have not been spectacular.

Epeius Biotechnologies

Thanks for your prompt response. I've been in touch with Epeius Biotechnologies and had a long discussion regarding the efficacy of the drug. I've also discussed the drug with the clinical trial researcher at Mayo Clinic. Neither discussion gave me a warm feeling that Rexin G was a slam dunk for pancreatic cancer. Since Mayo Clinic will not accept anyone into the trial that has more than 3 chemotherapy regimens, I've discussed various alternatives with Epeius, one of which was paying for the drug outside of a clinical trial. The price quoted was particularly costly, and before I opted to pay for the drug I was curious as to how your mother was doing approximately 1 year after starting treatment and whether the FDA threw any roadblocks in obtaining the drug on an individual basis.

RE: Rexin g Outside Clinical Trial

Greetings from Japan.

Epeius Biotechnologies Web site now mentions four single-use clinical trials sites:
MD Anderson, TX
Pittsburgh Hillman Cancer Center,
Sarcoma Oncology clinic, Santa Monica, and
the Epeius Clinical Reseearch Unit, San Marino.

Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Metro Manila is another option. A Japanese liaison person has recently made a trip, and reported it is an "advisable option." She met a few US patients there. You can probably email Epeius Biotech for the costs in the Philippines.
