CancerCompass message board discussion started by Lorijg on 6/26/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,13807,0.htm Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT Fri, 10 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ Hi everyone!  I recently went to the walk-in clinic for a redness I've had on my neck for over a month.  It sometimes gets red like sunburn, and gets itchy, prickly and sore...no bumps...more of a flat red color.  The doc says its an "alergic reaction" to something and gave me Prednisone, which really doesn't seem to be helping that much.  She didn't ask any questions, such as a smoker, etc....which I am.   I'm wondering if this could be a sign of cancer or if anyone knows someone who had the same symptoms.  The redness goes from under one ear, around the front of my neck over to below the other ear.  It seems to feel worse in warm, humid weather. Any info would be greatly appreciated!   Lorijg Tue, 26 Jun 2007 00:00:00 GMT I have this condition also. I suffer from rosacea and thought it had flared up on my neck. Went to my physician who told me it wasn't rosacea but a form of eczema, and he gave me cortisone cream to apply. This had absolutely no effect, and the condition persists. Not convinced it's eczema. Thinkt it might be some kind of allergic reaction, or maybe stress related. Just recently it has become more itchy with a sore/burning sensation and I've been applying some aromatherapy treatment in the hope it will help. Will keep my fingers crossed it works, and will let you know if it improves. Would be interested to hear if you have had any results. Not one to give up easily, I have been surfing the web looking through all kinds of potential allergies etc which may be responsible for my condition, and have eventually found it. The symptoms describe my condition exactly, right down to the missed area beneath the chin, so I truly believe this is what I have. Any info would be greatly appreciated!   I have this same problem and it's very difficult to treat. I tried Neosporin ointment on the area and it almost cleared up. I think sweating during hot humid weather is causing this. I think it's some kind of fungus. I am going to try an anti fungal ointment to see if that will clear it up. Hope this helps.
