newly diagnosed

Greetings everyone,Glad to see this site. I was diagnosed in Jan of 07 after finding a hard area in upper stomach area. I immediately knew something was not right and went to the doc. Sono showed a tumor hanging off the left lobe. I refused a biopsy and surgery was scheduled 4 days later. I was able to have a liver resection for a grade 1 encapsulated tumor. There was no vascular involvement or lymph node involvement. Docs say I was fortunate in that I found it early. I too keep looking for survivors as they all tell me this is rare in a liver without hep b, c or cirrhosis. I know that it came from somewhere so I am doing everything to keep my immune system healthy and my mind healthy.I recently returned from sanoviv an integrative medical spa in mexico which was one of the best things I ever did. Detox, mercury removal and a transfer vaccine that I will take for 6 mos. I am a strong believer in attitude and healthy environment. Thanks to all for listening and blessings to all.

Hi there. You were lucky you found it early. My dad just died from this cancer on June 7th. He didnt get it in time and died 2 weeks from his diagnosis. He also had it in the lungs. Good luck to you in fighting this disease. My goal is to find out more about this disease.

So glad to hear you were diagnosed early. I was diagnosed March 07 with HCC and it was a 5 cm tumor in the right lobe that was removed. Margins and lymph nodes were negative, but there is question as to whether vascular involvement. Pathology not sure. I am also one that does not have Hep b/c or cirrhosis. Dr. said scans and blood work looked good and gave me =/> 50% chance for 5 years. He states he has patients that are beyond the 5 years mark, which is good. An Oncologist called last week and offered me Nexavar for 6 months. Not sure if I want to do this. I have been detoxing with beet/carrot juice, exercising, trying to keep +mental outlook but it's hard. What is you prognosis?

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers are with you and your family. It is a sneaky disease and so hard to find due to lack of symptoms. Hopefully, new research will bring the ability to diagnose it early and offer better and more effective cure. Take care. irisps I had my 3rd scan today so I am recovering from that ordeal.

You be 2, I had a long message typed to you and it got lost. Darn it. Glad to hear from you. I have been looking for other survivors. I am doing well. Had my 3rd or 4th scan today. My doc has me doing them for now every 3 mos and then it will go to every 6 mos. Everybody seems to thin my prognosis is very good. The tumor was hanging off the left lobe so I lost it and a small portion of the lobe. It was in a capsule and had not yet spread anywhere and apparently just stayed put. Docs seem to think it had been there for a couple of years but was very slow growing. It was a grade 1 stage 1. The only symp i had was a slight bellyache for a few days. I found it when I rubbed my belly and it just felt wierd. I could actually move the thing. I called the doc and had her send me to the er stat. I refused the biopsy and felt they could do it once it was out of me. Reading about HCC on the net is scary as hell because of the bad prognosis so I try to just focus on the situation I am in and remain grateful and positive. You were fortunate in that you could have surgery to remove that thing. You are also very wise to change your diet and focus on your immune system. I think that is key. FYI, I went to sanoviv where I went thru detox, mercury removal in my teeth, had a specific transfer vaccine made to increase my odds of this thing not coming back. I feel it is gone and I will never see it again. My diet has changed as well as my lifestyle. Cancer has a way of doing that. How did you find the tumor? Did you have symptoms? When will you get complete pathology info? Stay on your doc to get that info. Take care and chat soon. Iris

For several months I had mild intermittent nausea with upper abdominal pain. I suspect it may be my gallbladder so I went to my regular MD. She ordered an ultrasound. OH MY GOSH, she called that day with the worst news. There were 2 lesions on my liver and 1 on my pancreas with enlarged lymph nodes. I had an MRI the next week, then referred to Duke (where I live close). Got a CT scan, colonoscopy, mammogram, chest CT, and liver biopsy. All were normal expect for 1 solid lesion on the liver. The ultrasound was wrong! I met with an Oncologist and a Surgeon - by this time is was1 month later. Biopsy show a different kind of cancer, one that was coming from the bile ducts. Once I had surgery, the pathology showed something different - primary HCC. My GI tract has not been the same. II wish I had the money to have my teeth fillings removed, I've thought about that for years. Did your Dr ever offer you the pill Nexavar to prevent a recurrence? This is scary isn't? It's so fresh to me, my surgery was 4/23/07. I hope we remain cancer free !!!!

We are hanging in there though sometimes barely. My dad thought he felt something but he thought it was an injury from falling off a ladder and cracking a rib. Normal blood tests like he got eveery 3 months didnt show anything. He noticed the week before Memorial day that his voice was getting weak,he couldnt eat like normal, felt like his tougue was swollen, was getting out of breath just going to the bathroom and he had pain in his back. His right lung was completely filled with pneumonia and both lungs had nodules in them. The liver masses were found the next week. By this time he could not be up 50% of the time so the oncologist said chemo wouldnt work. He would have tried it but it wouldnt have likely worked. So dad just said no he wanted to go home and be comfortable until he died. So thats what we did and he died 3 days later. I figure this was a pretty fast growing thing to come up that fast.
