The doctors say it is a positive sign !   Is it ? Does anyone know whether it is ok to eat honey as I understand sugar is not the best thing to eat when you have cancer. Best Wishes to EveryoneHi Sundy,  That's a GREAT sign.  The rash usually means the Tarceva is working, especially if he got it this soon.  As for the honey,  I wouldn't recommend it or anything else that has sugar.  The sugar feeds the cancer.  I am also 60 and  have lung cancer stage 4 (both lungs) and am on Tarceva also.  The rash will subside in about 2 weeks.  The doctors can give your dad something for the itching if it gets too bad.  Also, there are prescriptions for the nausea.  I wish you both luck and God Bless.  I've been on Tarceva since 02/07, was diagnosed 10 months ago with a prognosis of 6-12 months.  Am still working full time.  I am so glad I didn't go the standard chemo/radiation route.   Keep your faith and spend as much time as you can with your dad.  Be optimistic.  I'll say a prayer for you both.  Nancy  Chessie Mon, 06 Aug 2007 00:00:00 GMT My doctor said it was a great sign. It means that the medicine is working. I would let th Dr. know how severe the rash is. Also, sugar is not good for cancer. My doctor said you don't have to cut it out entirely but watch it. My doctor said you don't have to cut it out entirely but watch it.i, too am taking tarceva for stage 4 lung cancer and have the rash. so i hope this is a good sing because my rash is in full bloom........i go see my doctor next week. how long were you on it before they checked to see if tarveva was really working for you. i have been on it for almost a month now........................good luck       I saw the oncologist after the first full week of the rash since it tends to get infected easily.  He told me that he knew it was working at that point since my rash was so severe.  I started out at 150 mg but had to drop down for a while.  I'm now back on 150 and the one tumor is no longer active and the main tumor has shrunk by about 30-35%.  The side effects are no fun, but it's a small price to pay for quality of life that I have.  Hang in there and don't give up.  I'm hoping that it continues to work for a long time and when it stops working hope that by that time there will be something else to take it's place.  God Bless.  Nancy  Chessie Thu, 15 Nov 2007 00:00:00 GMT
