Just wondering

My husband is in the process of having the procedure where they try and make the good part of the liver grow to get him ready for resection, his tumor is on the liver and bile duct. He had the gallbladder removed already which was malignant. I was just wondering, they say this takes 4-5 weeks or so and then they will do another mri or another test to see the progress.. But in the meantime it has grown, he did have one mri after they did this about 1 week or so. So should they not be doing something to prevent this growth of the tumor until he is ready for resection. Also he was discharged from the hospital with a 8 hemglobin, which is way below the normal of 13. I just dont understand all of this and wonder if anyone out there knows anything about this. thanks
