nexavar

I have Renal cell carcinoma (advanced kidney cancer). The two sites being right hip bone and left adrenal gland. My left kidney was removed in January 2006, but unfortunately in May 2007 these two matestases had appeared. I had radiation on the hip site followed by monthly Zometta infusions. Then in March 2007 started a course of Nexavar 800 per day.In June a CT scan showed a definite shrinking of the tumour on the adrenal gland, which was very good news. However since March I have lost over 50lbs, and other side effects have been loss of appetite, sore fingers and feet, skin rash and flushing, significant hair loss. More recently I was really poorly with digestive upsets, nausea, and diarrhea, so my oncolist has directed me to stop the nexavar for 2 weeks at least. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Hi,I am stage 4 (recurrence) RCC pappilary.I have been on Nexavar (800 units also) for 6 weeks and am losing about 3lbs a week. I believe it's due to the diarreha and mouth sores. Have started using Immodium ad for the diarrhea (very sparingly) and found the mouth sores were a reaction between citrus juices and the medication, so I stopped my daily o.j. and that cleared up.I have a mild problem with skin rash, feet are sensitive to pressure or longer walks, hands are sore all the time.If it helps with the RCC it will be worth it. Looking forward to my 3 month cat scan.Hope everything works out perfectly for you.Bill

Has anyone experienced similar problems?hi there-my hubby had his right kidney out in 2003--went 3 yrs. until he had a lymph node behing left kidny enlarge and founf out it was renal cell--also have some small nodules on lungs--startewd sutent last august and it really had results--decreased lymph node we think it dissloved it---dissolved a 17mm node on lefy lung--had a rough time but could still function--then it weakened his heart so it was only pumping 38% sohe had to stop the sutent--waited 3 mos. anf heart is back up to45% but they were still concerned with the sutent so they just put him on Nexavar---he is already having a rough time---his scalp is really hurting and itching and he is achcy with joint pain and is kind of constipated--and his lungs hurt--he has new lesions on his lungs and a nodular density on his lung that wasn't there before so 3 mos off the chemo really let his cancer grow so he is bravely dealing with this daily
