Can someone please give me a real answer???

My husband has had multiple myeloma for over 2 yrs. now and he has gotten much worse but he has been able to go place's and at least tolerate his condition until in May of this year, he woke up and started vomitting blood. We immediately to the local Dr. and he put him in hosp. and did surgery thinking he had a tear in his throat. Well, he had to be rushed to bigger hosp. and had 9 units of blood, was in intensitive care, had 6 rubber bands on his esophagus and we were told he has cirrohsis of the liver and it is very bad. He has not had any cancer treatment since March and he has had his stomach drained 2 times now. He is so very weak and looks so bad but when I ask the doctor's about any prognosis, they will not say anything!!! Is cirrohsis of the liver cancer? They won't do anything for the cancer anymore. That is spreading I know. Are they just letting him die? Is he dying now? I really think he is and they just aren't telling me. Will someone tell me if you know please? I have to plan things! Thank you if you can help me.God Bless, Pat

I am hurting so much for the loss a beautiful man my father and i despise the way the doctors communicate with people these days!

I am hurting so much for the loss a beautiful man my father and i despise the way the doctors communicate with people these days!Thank you for sharing that with me. It has been just about 3 months for my husband and I can see him failing a little more each day. He has started spitting up just a tiny bit of blood again so I know his days are short.

I wish I could give you a answer but only the Drs can. 5wks ago my husband was diagnosed with stage IV lung ca met to the bones. We told every Dr we saw that we wanted to know EVERYTHING including time frame. Some people did not agree with us but like you, I need to plan. We were told 5-12months depending on chemo and if it works. So we went to the funeral home and are selling or trying to sell extra things for extra money because he was working and now his income is gone. At least if you start out expecting the worst when you get a ray of sunshine it is wonderful. He needed a mri of the brain to be sure the ca had not spread there and it has not so for us that was unexpected good news.Go online and find out as much as you can about his illness and when you go to the Dr ask tons of questions and if they will not answer then you may have the wrong Dr for you. You have to be like a parent protecting your child. I am by nature a quiet person but I have stood up to several people concerning appointments and even to one Dr.You have a right to know your husbands time frame and they should be kind enough to try as much as they can to give you what you request. I feel when you are in this situation people should be more understanding. I certainly hope your husband will turn around and not be as bad as you sound.Keep hounding the Dr until you get what you need. Take care and stay in touch. Margaret

I know they all communicate and know! They have taken him off all cancer treatments and so that tells me they have a pretty good idea how long he's got but tell us nothing. I am 9 years younger than my husband and when something happens to him, all I will receive is his social security so we also are financially wanting to know what's what. The dr.'s just don't understand that important part of our live's and the worry we go through every day! I will pray for you and your husband's situation also as it get's so hard some days to face this battle but we must be strong and take ONLY each day and deal with that day.Pat

Dear Pat,I don't know if you're familiar at all with complementary or alternativemedicine, but there is something called Milk Thistle, which helps tosupport the liver. The liver is the organ that helps your body get rid ofthe toxins. You can find it at any Health Food Store. You can check with your doctor first, but most mainstream doctors only prescribe prescription drugs. There are alternatives out there for cancer, also, but you usually won't learn about that from mainstream doctors, either.Products such as Graviola and Agaricus Extract;Zeolite, and others. Hope that I've been of some help. Best Wishes, Susie Q
