CancerCompass message board discussion started by Joanie482 on 8/15/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,15318,0.htm Sun, 07 Sep 2008 00:00:00 GMT Sun, 07 Sep 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ My Dad is 78 and was diagnosed with inoperable bladder cancer (due to his breathing) in April of 2007.  He has been undergoing chemo/radiation and is experiencing severe hand and foot pain, with his hands actually turning white.  The doctors have prescribed Plavix (a blood thinner) for this and I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this type of side effect.  I was expecting neuropathy from the chemo, but not the kind of pain he is experiencing.  I would appreciate any comments or even any advice as to what else we can expect as we go through the chemo/radiation. Joanie482 Wed, 15 Aug 2007 00:00:00 GMT Hi,   Sorry to hear your Dad is going thru this. The chemo - depending on what one he is on - could cause the pain. I did cisplatin/gemzar for 4 months and the cisplatin is a tough one. I had hand and foot pain side effect - it did go away after treatments stopped. There is more info on cisplatin at bladder cancer web cafe .
