Leg Swelling Due to Impaction

Every 6-9 months or so my hernias cause impaction problems with my colostomy. I end up in the emergency room with severe stomach cramps and nausea. But this time it has caused swelling in my legs from the groin to the knee. It really has me worried. They did an ultasound to make sure there were no blood clots so it seems to just be fluid, a complication of the impaction problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Everything is working alright now but the swelling is still there so I'm going to keep up the colace and get an over the counter diaretic. Any advice would be appreciated.
