wee, it is now day11 and my hubby was breaking out onhis scalp and it was burning and itching then that night the rash moved onto his neck and then covered his whole body--it isswollen some and really hurts--now his hands are really hurting--they took him off of it on the10th day saying to wait for 5 days and see if he is better--now what do we do- the sutent he took fro 5 cycles worked great but weakened his heart to where it was only pumping 38%--it is now up to45% but onc. didn't want to put him back on it and said try Nexavar----any ideas how to help him with this rash to soothe it--I am giving him Benadryl and advil right now-seems to help some thanks, sue

Hey,Tom only lasted 11 days on Nexavar as well. He had the hand & foot syndrome REALLY bad, he couldn't walk, or even open up his med. bottles, what a mess. We used Udderly Smooth and it really cooled the burning and made him feel a lot better, as for the rash, he had a rash all over but he says that didn't really bother him, not nearly as much as the H&F. It took him at least 2weeks to re-coop. I've heard good things about Torisel for treatment but don't know much about it. Hope your hubby feels better soon!!!!! In our prayers,Cindy

In our prayers,CindyHi cindy, thanks for responding to our message--has your hubby gone back on the Nexavar? they are saying after this rash goes away they will probaly lower the dose but he isn't sure he wants to go thru this again-I can't seem to find anything to sooyhe the rash all over his body--using the udderley smooth on his hands--going to try to have him soak in a bath of baking soda today and I have some clear calamine lotion to try today--it doesn't seem to be letting up at all and he has ben off it for 4 days now--I have read about torisel but not sure about that and also about avastin? will talk to our onc. about all these options--what a terrible cancer this is--It is so hard to see our men struggle and can't do anything about it, thanks again,Sue

RE: side effects of Nexavar

My ex father in law in on nexavar and has been for about 2 1/2 months. He luckily has not had any really bad saide effects. No rash, no burning, about the only problem he has had is insomnia and sometimes he sees bugs, but the Doctor is not sure if it is from the nexavar or the oxycontin. He was on 2 twice a day and his recent bone scans and cts show he is staying stable but they have cut him down to 1 twice a day to see if it helps his side effects. Can you believe how expensive it is??

Hey, After 10 cycles of 50 mg of Sutent and 1 on 37.5 mg progression started again with my mom. The docs are planning to switch to Nexavar. How are the response and side effects with your experience?-Cathy
