myelofibrosis

Hi, I'm new to this message board thing but I am desperately seeking any information resouces to help in finding out all treatments available to a patient with myelofibrosis. My father was diagnoised 8 years ago with this disease. Just last Novemeber he invited me to one of his appointments with him. That was the first time I had heard of (MF). I immediately got on the internet to find out what it was. I am looking for some type of support group in our area where individuals can share what treatments they are using. What's working and what's not. By the way, my father is 69 years old. He has all of his siblings and childern still living. All of the information I've read thus far states that a bone marrow transplant is not an option at this age. Could someone who's gone through this are is going through this explain why? May God Bless you.
