Solitary lung and thyroid nodules

I recently had a CT scan with contrast looking for pulmonary embolisms. No evidence was found, however, they did find a 7mm nodule in my lungs and a 1.5 cm nodule in my thyroid. I am to have a biopsy on the thyroid nodule in a couple days, but they want to wait three months and do a regular CT scan on my lungs to see if there is any growth before doing a biopsy on the lung nodule, because it is so small. I have done alot of reading and came across something that said that the odds of a solitary lung nodule being malignant increase significantly if there is a nodule found anywhere else in the body, even if it is benign. Is this true and how much does it increase the odds? If one is benign, why would it make a difference and make the other more likely to be malignant?

I had the same thing happen to me. They were looking for a blood clot due to a positive d-dimer test. They found 3 nodules in my lungs and one in my thyroid instead. I am getting a biopsy on the 8th of the thyroid nodule and another CAT scan of the lungs in 6 months. How did your biopsy turn out? I hope all went well.

thank you, I lean on Jesus everyday. this website is great if you happen to comeback after the biopsy with thyroid cancer. there are 4 kinds. the most common two are covered really good on this site. My biopsy came back unsure., when we did the path on the thyroid it came back Medullary. Us Meddies (patient with Meduallry) meet on a website thru the thyroid cancer association. If you end up needing it, this is where you will find answers.Good luck, God bless you and you familyGretch
