My Aunt Has Just Been Diagnosed With Uterine Cancer

My aunt has just been diagnosed with uterine cancer and the doc wants her to wait a MONTH and then have a hysterectomy....nothing else...no other tests or treatments. Please tell me this is not what she should be doing first??? I would assume waiting a month would not be a good idea. I am trying to talk her into a second opinion, but she's not really listening. I think she's just in shock. I would really appreciate any information you could give me. Thanks in advance.
