Nexavar 3 month ct scan results.

I am pleased to inform everyone about my first 3 month evaluation.I have RCC Pappillary strain (type 1) stage 4, and because it is rare there is very little data available as to what I could expect. My choices were between Nexavar & Sutent, because of all the stories I had read about Sutent & the side effects, I chose the nexavar. Partly because my largest tumor (7cm) was in the liver and the Nexavar had some promising results with liver cancer too. Anyhow, I got the results of my first 3 month ct scan today. A general reduction of 40% in all tumors. The Dr cautioned me that nobody knows how long this will last, or if there will be any further reduction etc. But it sure sounded good so far.I am taking a full dose of the Nexavar (4 tablets a day). Side effects I have been experiencing are Hand foot syndrome, diarrhea & lots of gas. My wife & I are still trying to get a handle on the diarrhea through meds & diet.

He had a quadruple bypass back in 2005, and suffers from congestive heart failure, diabetes, and diabetic neuropathy. Here's hoping and praying that the Nexavar works without causing any serious problems to his heart. (By the way, he did have a reduction of his tumors after 3 cycles on the Sutent.) We are thankful for that.

How long had you been on the drug before the good report on CT scans? I am also on Nexavar and have had no advancement in kidney or lung tumor. Was not able to take the 4 tabs a day due to running an elevated temp....sometimes as high as 104.0 Had been on Nexavar for only 6 weeks when the chills and fever started. Had to go into hosp to get I V antibiotics. .They took me totally off for 7 days, then 2 tabs a day for 7 days and am now taking 3 tabs, 600 mg and, so far have had no chills or elevated temp.I, too, have the hand/foot reaction, rashes, fatigue, painful scalp with hair loss, and diarrhea. I can tolerate these knowing that the drug has had some really good results, such as yours. 40% is incredible!! Would like to know the number of weeks you had been on the drug before this good report.Sincerely,Barbara
