RE: Nexavar

Nexavar is one of the "smart drugs" that stops the supply of oxygen to tumor cells and stops the tumor from growing. Can also shrink the tumor up to 37%. It's one of the line of drugs given for rcc since kidney cancer does not respond to radiation or the standard chemo drugs. It's usually used last in treatment but was given to me as the first because the Sutent caused heart problems. Nexavar is one of the drugs that was derived from thalidomide, the drug that caused so many severe birth defects back in the late 50's and 60's. Was given to patients for nausea. It stopped the cell growth at whatever level the fetus happened to be in at the time the drug was taken. It's amazing that a drug that caused so many problems in one area can now be used to fight & destroy cancer cells. What would we do without the consistant research being done to battle cancer.Hope this answers your question. Also you can just look up Nexavar online and find out the side effects as well as other useful information.
