CancerCompass message board discussion started by dizzyarkie on 9/26/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,16556,0.htm Wed, 20 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT Wed, 20 Aug 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ I came to the board a couple of months ago asking anyone if they could tell me what I could expect for my friend who was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.  I didn't receive any replies to my posts, but in taking care of my friend, I have learned.  I was just wanting to help someone else who is living with this type of Lymphoma.  He has chosen not to receive any treatments, and I have watched his deterioration each and every day.He is mentally handicapped, but a precious soul.  He never complains of hurting anywhere, but he stands with his hands on his back in a slumping stance.  Hospice says that this is from the tumors pressing against the nerves.  His speech is slurred and he can't always get out what he needs or wants to say.  His bowels have quit moving on their own.  We have to give him a laxative every day in order to avoid the build up.  He talks of dying and going to heaven to see his mom.  Hospice says his slurred speech is also because of the tumors in his stomach pressing against nerves, and the tumors are partially blocking the bowel so that they are no longer functioning properly.  It is the hardest thing to sit and watch someone that you love so much, wither away a little bit more each and every day.  I have cried and asked God why that he has to take a person like this who has never harmed anyone, nor does he have the mental capacity to know evil and hate.  Of course, God works in a way that we will never know the reasoning behind.  To each of you who either has or takes care of a loved one with this disease.....May God be with you each and every day, and try to cover you in peace along the way. dizzyarkie Wed, 26 Sep 2007 00:00:00 GMT
