CancerCompass message board discussion started by *Folfox* on 10/2/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,16686,0.htm Wed, 08 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT Wed, 08 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ My boyfriend has colon cancer with mets to the liver.  We started chemo (FOLFOX Study Program) yesterday.  He finished with day 2 today....One question which should have been asked long time ago but i never had the guts to ask the Oncologist was his prognosis After plucking up enough courage yesterday we heard that it is not good.  Chemo can only extend the life expectancy but not cure him.  I cannot understand this.  I have read in many articles that the liver can reproduce itself after surgery.  Why can't the cancer be cut out and he can live a normal life (well as far as possible)?  Is liver cancer fatal?  He is a diabetic which complicates a few things but please can some one tell me their experience?  I am struggling to come to terms with his prognosis.  He is 38 - i just does not sound fair that at such a young age we need to go through something like this. I am worried.  We have just come to terms with going through Chemo.  If the prognosis is not good, is going through chemo worth it in the end?  Please share your experience with me.  I need your advise.Thank you so muchRae-Ann   *Folfox* Tue, 02 Oct 2007 00:00:00 GMT I suggest you check out www.curedoflivercancer.com.    Neill Thu, 04 Oct 2007 00:00:00 GMT
