resection or chemotheraphy

can anyone tell me please. if you are diagnosed with metatastic breast cancer in the liver with one isolated tumour 2.5cm ,and you start off with chemo and it shrinks it to 1cm within 6 months ,then you have a masectomy.after the breast surgery you have radiation then start off with chemo, but the chemo has no effect so the same tumor grows back ,for how long would you carry on with chemo ? what other treatments would benefit as its only the one solidary tumor in the liver .i was thinking of resection

RE: resection or chemotheraphy

I would certainly say that I would opt for a resection if at all possible. Chemotherapy is soooo damaging to your entire body - if you were able to remove it surgically - that seems to be the best to me. My husband has carcinoid cancer - small bowel primary and mets to the liver. He just had a liver resection in August of this year and he is doing great. He had a small bowel resection at the same time to remove his primary tumor. So far he has had only surgically interventions and follows a strict diet and exercise regimen. Good luck and I wish you the best
