c-125 blood test

I was diagnosed with endometriosis 14 years ago. I have had 3 laps . I had a c-125 blood test 3 months ago. It was 45. I had another one 2 weeks ago and it was 227. My mom passed away from ovarian cancer. Could the elevated c-125 be from the endometriosis?

Then colon trouble - told IBS , diverticulitis then a colon resection in 2002. Docs kept telling me the pain and discomfort I was feeling was from the endo and colon problems. Finally diagnosed with OVCA Stage IV in 2004. Before my surgery in 2004 - the Drs still thought that the tumors they saw on the Ultrasound were endemetrial tumors and NOT malignant. When they opened me up they found the tumors not to be endometrial but a form of epithelial cancer. So do not waste time. Get an internal ultrasound ASAP. The elevated CA125 can definately be from the endo, but please play it safe and investigate further.I wish you all the best and hope it turns out good for you. Please let me know what happens.Diane t

RE: c-125 blood test

Hi Abigail, I appreciate your circumstance. I had fallopian tube CA and they don't know much about it so treat me as an OV CA patient. I also have CA125 tests drawn every three months and know how frustrating and nerve racking it can be. I am very sensitive to the test so if mine gets even in the 70's they treat me. I have had Tamoxifen, Arimidex, Faslodex shots and Femara. It went down then up. I have had four surgeries through one incision line. Had breast cancer with a TRAM flap reconstruction, a hysterectomy, a laparoatomy then bowel surgery... so I have many adhesions. Anything in the intraperitoneal cavity, stomach and lower chest area, a yeast infection, possible inflamed lymph nodes, a bowel infection, can cause your CA125 to rise that is why they have so many false positives. I had to have 6 rounds of Carboplatin and my levels dropped like a brick, then went up on the last two treatments, and three months after my chemo it went up tl 48 from 31 normal being 0-35.... So WAIT another 3 months and if up a little WAIT again, if up significantly then another round of carboplatin. If it goes doen, great, if it tends to rise then they will add gemzar (another patient who went to Dana Farber CA institute in Boston) had this added to her treatment and her levels dropped to single digits. Hers was 15,000. Anyhow they would add that to my treatment, no hair loss, no nausea, no neuropathy..... so I am preparing myself....... Another thing you might want to investigate and by no means am I saying this is something that works for everyone, but it is all natural. It is called Asci or Asaci.... on the internet. It is 7 berries from the Amazone jungle, no water even added, a very strong antioxidant. My oncologist group uses it and even one of the docs use it... A lady with a count of 7500 had hers drop 200 points in three months... so I am trying it. BUT you want to check with your physician. As I said, it is all natural and onc nurse said it does not interfere with any medications or chemos but still check, this is very important. So, to answer your question, yes, if you have endometriosis I truly believe that it could cause your CA125 to rise, but you need to ask your doc, an gyn/onc and if you don't get an answer that satisfies you, get a second opinion. Good luck and prayers to you, Amy
