How much water should he be drinking on a daily basis

Just want to know what volume of water should he be taking on a daily basis - he was never a 'water drinker' per se and I'm concerned that he might not be taking enough water or too much.He was diagnosed with Signet Ring Cell Cancer and it was in thewall of the bladder - hence it was removed along with the prostate. He is doing very well right now with the exception of his energy level which is 'nil'. He eats well, sleeps well and is on NO meds as he has no pain .Appreciate an answer to my question concerning the water intake.
