Problems after surgery

I was diagnosed Devember 8,2006 with stomach cancer. On December 26they removed 80% of my stomach, I have had chemo and radiation. the radiation caused damage to my opening between the esophagus and the stomach. Twice I have had to have that opened up. I was getting sick every time I tried to eat. My problem still is that I can not lay down. I am sleeping in a hospital bed, sitting up. When I do try to lay down I get sick at my stomach. Still with sitting up to sleep about 3-4 times a week I will wake up sick during the night. When they did the second scope to open the passage way the doctor said I still had food in my stomach it is not digesting properly. Is anyone else having this problem??? I am getting so frustrated, still losing about a pound a week.

Hello Katrina1 No wonder you are feeling frustrated. What a horrible experience to have to endure. I don't know if this will help your situation or not but it is well worth investigating with your doctor. When I had some major digestive problems (not cancer related) my medical/alternative doctor recommended I use digestive enzymes. The one I found most helpful was a combination of BETAINE/PEPSIN/PANCREATIN.

Here's hoping it will bring you relief!
Blessings

Thanks for the suggestion. I just saw my nutrionist yesterday and she is working with my GI doctor to get me started on some enzymes. Glad to know they may help. Thanks
