Carac Side Effects

I'm 29...I've had basal cell and MOHS surgery....and have had two dysplastic nevi removed. My mom had melanoma twice and beat it and has had scc and bcc numerous times. Having said that, i still was a sun freak while i was young and now am paying my dues. Anyway, I was given carac for two weeks to use nightly. I had very minimal side effects. I wanted to post that so that people were not all scared to use it. My face looked red just at my nose and cheeks..I had miminal peeling...and my doctor was very pleased with what it did. His advice..do it every five years and I'll never have that severe reaction as long as I take care of my skin. So what I guess I'm encouraging is those who are young and have had scc or bcc to see if their doctor will let them do it for a two week run and to keep up with it...it can really help us avoid future surgeries.

RE: Carac Side Effects

I am 33 and have had two surgeries and several frozen. I used the carac 6 months ago and it was bad!! However, I am so thankful that it worked. I am using it again on my nose and under my eye where it was bad last time. It is red and nasty but nothing like it was. It is uncomfortable and some nights I would get tears in my eyes when I put it on but it is well worth it to not look in the mirror everyday waiting for another spot to pop up.

Hi, I'm 58 and have the same situation. I had MOHS surgery a year ago. I've been using Carac for 18 days now.........10 more to go. My face is very splotchy red with a lot of peeling. I also had a lot of sun damage. I get a burning sensation in certain areas, but it's worth it to me. I don't want to have those PK's frozen off every 6 months. This way I'll be done with it.
