Torisel

I have RCC that has metastacized in both lungs,, my only kidney and my inferior vena cava. I failed treatments with Sutent and Nexavar. I have had 9 treatments with Torisel (IV), with periodic Neupogen and Aranesp injections. The large RCC Tumor in IVC is at the orifice of the right atrium, obstructing blood flow, and the Dr. has given me 6-12 months to live.I have had few side effects from Torisel.I would like to communicate with others receiving Torisel therapy. Thanks,Ron

Ron, I am so sorry to hear this but we just have to have faith that the Torisel will work. What do you mean when you say "I failed on Nexavar and Sutent" Could you not tolerate them or they just did not work?Kim

KimI had 6 months of Sutent and it appeared to slow tumor growth, but attacked my RBCs and WBCs requiring injections. I could not shake the chronic anemia. Then it was 6 months of Nexavar with little change. Then Torisel came along, and I am hoping. I will have scans in Jan to see. You are right as they say, Faith can move mountains. Thanks for replying. Ron

My husband has had 6 doses of torisel and had his first post treatment scan. He has some shrinkage of primary tumor, lymph node involvement they are not sure what is happening there. Will carry on with trestments for now. Initially had problems with platelet count dose lowered to 20mgs and now values appear to be increasing each week. Has many mild side effects except for back /hip pain which requires hypomorphe and after each dose the side effects change.
