RE: stage 3, please help

My cousin is 32 and has Stage 4 Bile duct cancer that has spread everywhere. The most effective treatment we have found so far are the platinum based therapies. They are Cisplatin or Carboplatin (chemo) but they are hard on a person physically. For us they did not knock out all the cancer. We started in Stage 4 so maybe you will have better luck because your in stage 3. Also if your family have a significant history of female breast or ovarian cancer your family may be like mine and carry a defective gene titled BRCA1 or 2. Currently research is being conducted in the UK for breast cancer patients that have this BRCA2 mutation to determine if they can kill the cancer using this genetic weakness. Because Bile duct cancer is rare they are not treating it yet with these new inhibitors but over the next couple of years if may be helpful to keep track of their results. Good Luck and God BlessCarl

My mom is dx with same and is having surgery tomorrow with Dr. Canady. She was scheduled for the 15th of Nov. but was moved to the 12th because of high bilirubin levels. Don't know about the cost; she has health insurance. I will let you know how she is doing after surgery. There are docs that perform this surgery in Germany; Doc Canady trained there. Check it out online.
