Leiomyosarcoma Metastisized to the lungs

I'm seeking treatments options for my 64 year old grandmother who was diagnosed with high grade leiomyosarcoma of the lower extremity. She went in for a historectomy and the doctors found cancer and removed it all, but found it had spread to her lungs already. The doctors are saying there is no treatment. Looking for information on possible treatments that have helped others in same situation. Thanks Serene

RE: Leiomyosarcoma Metastisized to the lungs

Hi,Sorry to hear about your grandmother, I hope she is recovering well. Was the cancer also found in her uterus as well as her leg and lung? There are treatment options out there. This cancer can be difficult to treat and chemo or radiation does not always work. She needs to get a 2nd opinion soon so she can start treatment. There is a sarcoma center in Houston that specializes. I dont know how close she live to it but its worth a try. Just remember that all doctors are not familiar with this type of cancer because it is so rare. There are many studies that she can get into and may help prolong her life. I hope this helps you. The hospital is called MD Anderson. There are a few sarcoma centers in the US. Keep your spirits up.

RE: Leiomyosarcoma Metastisized to the lungs

There is a current phase 2 trial specifically for sarcomas that have metastasized to the lung. It uses Reolysin, which is a virus thought to be able to kill off the cancer cells. It's rare to find a trial specifically for sarcomas and is definitely worth looking into. Two places are conducting it:University of Michigan Medical School - 800-865-1125andInstitute of Drug Development, Cancer Therapy Research Center San Antonio, TX. Contact is Monica Mita, MD, 210-450-1797.Good luck!

HiMy friend have the same thing and he is starting on something natural to fight it.Clinical trials run on the original formula and Leiomyosarcoma responded very well to it . Sense is improved and better then before and calledSutherlandia OPC Extracthttp://www.sutherlandiaopc.com/ I have more info ,if you need it let me know.Liquid cellular zeolite for pH and Beta Glucan 1,3D would be also helpful. Look into Cancema black salve capsules that would be helpful as well.Regards Liz

RE: Leiomyosarcoma Metastisized to the lungs

I have leiomyosarcoma, also metastisized to lungs and elsewhere.Started in uterus. I was diagnosed Sept 2006, poor prognosis atthat time. I had a second opinion which saved my life. My cancer ishormone sensitive, so I get injections of Lupron every 90 days. The Lupron blocks my estrogen/progesterone production and is keeping mycancer at bay. Please have your grandmother ask her oncologist if hercancer is hormone sensitive. If it is, ask about Lupron injections. Iknow Lupron is used for some men with Prostate cancer. Lupron, along with prayer and a positive attitude is keeping me alive andwell. I wish your grandmother well!!!!!!!!
