Carcinoid Tumors

My mother was just diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic cancer due to carcinoid tumors on her liver that they believe started from her intestine. They told her she has too many tumors to remove surgically from the liver and they cannot use chemotherapy as it would be too much for the liver to handle since the tumors are so widespread. They are starting her on Ostreotide and the doctor seemed pretty upbeat about it as he said that even though it's a metastatic Stage 4 cancer, carcinoid tumors are very slow growing and this medication can help relieve the symptoms she's had (mostly diarrhea) and sometimes the medication will even shrink the tumors.I guess I'm just looking for someone else who may have been going through this. The doctor seems to feel she can live years with this cancer and she is a very active, otherwise healthy 71 year old woman. I've read up on this cancer and it appears to have a somewhat good survival rate. Anyone out there that can give me some information and support would be helpful!Thank you!
