ascites with kidney cancer

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced ascites as a result of metastatic kidney cancer, and what treatments are out there. My husband has stage 4 RCC with mets in his liver, lung, and now on the perionateum of his abdomen. These new tumors leak fluid, which cause ascites, or abdominal distention. It is very painful and requires drainage every week, sometimes twice a week if it gets bad. After his nephrectomy, he has had IL-2, Sutent, and Torisel, all of which have failed. His doctor wants to try Avastin to address the ascites, but we don't know what that will do for the cancer. If there are any patients with similar cases, I would love to hear what you are doing to get by. Thanks!
