Glucose and insulin- Big negatives?

Cancer Compass (great resource) just had an article about the negative effects of excess glucose and insulin on getting a relapse of cancer polyps in the intestine. Excess of glucose and insulin ( as in prediabetes) had a significant increase in relapse of the polyps and caner. But what does this mean? Doe it mean I should eat less sugar? I had stage two rectal cancer and Im a year past chemo. I guess it means I should do a regimen of exercise to avoid diabetes - exercise, low carb diet. I will really miss my sweet foods even though I really don't eat much of it. Say it isn't so: I must give up chocolate. :)
