That seems a bit strange for a doctor to say that with the removal of one testicle you wont be able to have kids. Unless he is saying this becuase the the alterations to your lymph system or if during surgery a vasectomy was required. I can tell you for a fact that a man can still have children with just one testicle. My father survived testicular Cancer and lost a testicle, yet I am here and I also have a little sister.

I also find that amazing that a doctor would say that nothing will come out. The ejaculate is in fact 80% prostate fluid and the rest is sperm and seminal vesicle fluid and bulbourethral gland fluid. The testes function separately from each other so that the removal of one will not eliminate the production of sperm cells from the remaining testis. The removal of both testes would result in nothing coming out because the prostate requires testosterone from the testes to produce the prostate fluid. This is what happens when men have to take hormone deprivation therapy to reduce the prostate size. This is a common procedure for prostate cancer patients who have enlarged prostates and need to reduce the prostate size for the procedure to remove the prostate, such as Brachytherapy, radiation treatment, High intensity focus ultrasound (HIFU). You will function normally except that instead of having two testes you will only have one.

Please review CancerCompass Member Guidelines at http://www.cancercompass.com/common/guidelines.html-- I had the same op in '80. If the Dr is a little clumsy, like mine was, during the node removal, a nerve gets cut that results in " retrograde ejaculation" where the seminal fluid dumps into your bladder. A percentage of patients recover that function with time. It's easy to tell if your ejaculate has sperm in it by looking in a microscope.
