anyone switched from nexavar to sutent?

Nexavar just stopped working after 18 months and the dr. is suggesting switching to Sutent. I'm scared that it won't work. If anyone has a similar experience, please write.

My husband was on nexavar and had a major reaction to it. They switched him to sutent and he is now on cycle 9. It is holding things very well. It comes with its own set of side effects for sure. He was on 50mgs for 5 cycles and reducded to 37.5 for the past 4 cycles. His dose was changes because of stomach issues.

In 1993 I developed Kidney cancer and had an operation to remove my kidney and since then I have had surgery on my lungs twice. That was the next place the cancer settled. And after the surgery I was put on Nexavar, I was on it for about 18 months and got a very bad reaction to it I lost all my body hair and hair on my head, and I also lost a layer of skin. And was very ill most of the time. It was hard to plan things because of being sick. And then I got amuned to the Nexavar, so they put me on Sutent about 5 months ago. Feeling better now than I did when I was on Nexavar, Sutent upset my stomach but I can live that compared to the Nexavar. Now my cancer cells aren't shrinking or getting bigger. Now that I am on Sutent. Vern Schauer

I was diagnosed with RCC Stage 3B in Oct. 2005. I went on Nexavar in November 2005 after my Nephrectomy. I could only take Nexavar for three months before the lymph nodes started to enlarge, then I moved on to Sutent. I took Sutent and had minor side effects, but it kept me stable for 18 months. No issues with the transition. Sutent was much more tolerable for me. After 18 months on Sutent, I developed "Pleural Effusions" (fluid buildup in the lining of my left lung), so my oncologist has moved me to a more aggressive Chemo treatment. I now take Xeloda, Gemzar, and Avastin. All stable now. I hope the Sutent works well for you. D.
