I don't want to lose my dad

Hi, My dad was diagnosed in Fed 07 with lung cancer. He has tried all the chemos, which didnt work.He was put on tarceva about 3 weeks ago and since he has gone down hill. He wont eat anything and has had really bad side affects. I went to see him today at the hospice and I couldn't stay because all I could do is cry. Even now as I'm writing this!I don't know how to cope with this. My mum is in pieces trying to care for him and she only lost her dad in sept 07.Can anyone offer me any advise?

RE: I don't want to lose my dad

You can use Ensure or Boost plus with ice cream, my Dad lived a long time without losing weight on this. Also you can try different supplements. My husband is on flax oil and cottage cheese, there is Essaic Tea, many different supplements; you can research on the internet. You never know what will work. We also are trying Avemar which is more expensive. I will be praying for you. Like Jimmy Valvano said "NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP; NEVER, NEVER LOSE HOPE" You might also see if there are any clinical trials your Dad could participate in. Tomorrow they might find a cure for your Dad's cancer.

The last thing he had was 3 mouthfuls of readybrek last week. I will look up the teas though and avemar. He is so stubborn I dont think he would participate in any trials. Will let everyone know what the oncologist says later on today.Thank-you so very much for your advise x
