Sorry to hear you have joined this party. Our experience has been great with the chemo treatments, see my previous posting. The chemo seems to have enabled the stomach to once again expand. We have had no limitations on types of foods, other than cold cannot be tolerated for about a week after the infusion. My partner has been able to put 26 pounds on all the while doing chemo. It has been a blessing. Good luck to you both, Scott

sorry to hear about your brother. I,m 51 and was diagnosed with stage iv stomach cancer in june 07. Went through 5 rounds of chemo and just days ago had my stomach removed. Going through chemo was difficult. The smell of food would trigger gag reflects. However you most find a way to get nurished. I started eating foods at room temp. I ate deli sandwichs alot roasted turkey was least processed of all meats. For the most part my diet was 95% oorganic. With a big focus on fruits and veggitables. However when I lost my appetite I would anything that would stay down or tasted good. When the tumor was large eating was painful. I would use the morphine to continue eating. I also smoked a lot of pot to increase the appetite and to keep food down. It helped alot with gag reflects. You most time your meals. My wife would call me at work to remind me to eat. Foods that would make sick before would somtimes taste good and vise versa. So experiment. What types of food are used to eating and what is your biggest problem with food (nausia, taste, appetite)? Good Luckmark

Mom had Cisplatin, Epirubicin and daily 24/7 5FU..this one really was hard on her body...she's had it on for seven weeks now and still two to go. Do lots of research on side effects..every drug is different...if it turns out he'll be on 5FU feel free to drop me message, there are some pretty intersting and painful sid effects to that one...the tips would be useful.Keep strong and patient.

Make sure you ask the Oncologist what type of chemo he will be receiving. My dad is on the tail end of his chemo treatments (one more to go). His biggest complaint was the mouth sores. It's difficult for him to eat anything with them so I made him some high calorie whey protein shakes with whole milk.
