questions

Dear Cancer Compass, I went to the doctor on last Friday and had a pap test done on me. Myresult came back saying that I have HPV. I am scared but most of allcourious. My doctor recommended that I have a biospy done really soon.Alot of people have told me how bad the biospys hurts and I am reallyscared. My questions for you all are: Are the Biopsy like pap smears,Doa biopsy really hurts, How bad is the pain, Am I allowed to get somekind of sedation in my prostat beforehand, Does Biopsies save the lifeof most people, and How long does it takes? This will be my firstbiopsyand I am really scared to have one done. Do doctors give pain medicineto block the pain before he or she began doing the biopsy? Please giveme some feed back on how biopsy works. Thank you all.Deaundra Myers

RE: questions

Hey, I had a biopsy performed recently during a pap smear. Although I certainly wouldn't want it to be a routine requirement, it wasn't something horrible either. I didn't receive any pain block medication, it didn't really require it. Having said that, I suppose it would depend on the location of the tissue to be biopsied.
