LINITIS PLASTICA, please help

hi i have previously wrote on here when my mum was diagnosed with LP in july 07, She has now tolerated 6 rounds of chemo 5fx cistiplatin, epirubocin and xeloda tablets instead of 24hr infusion, therefore she doesnt have a long line, she was going 2 have a long line untill i did research on here and we mentioned xeloda to her consultant so it proves research can do so much good!!! A ct scan at cycle 3 revealed the stomach lining was reducing, but now her consultant is saying go and enjoy what life you have left. I feel this is unacceptable as she has managed chemo, considering. im a nurse and feel i need 2 do something!! she has paid a heavy price but she is eating small amounts, she has lost alot of weight but has become slightly more active recently. hes just said ill see you in a few months and you moght be good might not be!! because the research on lp is so limited and my mum doesnt really want a second opoinion as she thinks he's good! if ure not in the business u think consultants know it all!!! i feel helpless!! hes not going 2 rescan 2 see if its improved, i just dont know where to turn, we live in hull in the uk is anyone else at the end of treatment? he doesnt want to operate so now its like im just going to watch her deteriote, my mum is only 43 stage 4. nikki

Dear Nikki,So sorry to hear you mum is battling LP too! Please see my post titled "Living every day Can happen". We have been doing Oxaliplatin, Epirubicin, and Xeloda for 9 months with excellent results for LP that was inoperable back in March. Started chemo (every 3 or 4 weeks) in April 2007 and still going STRONG. Leaving for Mexico and the beach tomorrow as there is snow here in Denver. Maybe your oncologist can change your meds a little? Hope this helps. God Bless you both during this battle.
