Sutent w. Thyroid side effects (TSH)

Hey Everyone,

My mom is one her 2 nd cycle of 37.5 but has taken 9 cycles
of 50 mg w/ the tradition of 28 days on and 14 days off. All her tissue tumors are gone but her PET
scan still shows activity on her neck and third right rib. Other wise still
stable. However, one of the side of effects was being hypoththyroidism. Her TSH is above 100 and will be soon seeing an endocronologist. This had led to fatigue, cholesterol high, easily feels cold, and high cholesterol. Is anyone else hypothyroidism? If yes what were your treatments or experience?-Cathy

Hi my name is Robbie, age 52, female. I too was on 50mg for two full cycles. Before the end of my second cycle the Dr said my TSH was 118He prescribed Synthroi 50mcg. Ten days after taking it my hair started to thin all over. By the tenth day my hair was 70% thinner. This shedding went on for several weeks. It has since leveled off. I am stll not sure what happenned to my hair. I think the Synthroid must have jumpstarted my hair growth pushing out old hair. I have finished three complete cycles of Sutent 37.5. TSH levels will go up and down on Sutent and from what I have read almost 60% will become hypothyroid. my TSH goes up and down based on the Sutent. I have had my TSH checked during my off cycles and it has been normal. I hope this helps.

Hey Robbie,My mom is currently taking 75 mcg of Levothyroxine. Its been her 4th day and she is having extreme muscle cramps in her lower back and bottom. I hope these reactions doesnt last too long. Is this side effect even normal? I know theres muscel weakness when your hypothyroid but is it normal to feel sore during the intake of the meds? -Cathy

Hi, I know when I googled bone pain and synthroid, there were a lot of pages on it. I don't remember alot of what was going on symptom wise at the time as I had been on 50mg of Sutent and it would make me feel so bad and I had severe muscle weakness on that dose. Within 10 days of taking the synthroid, my hair was falling out. Yeek, it is amazing how all other side affects go away when your hair is thinning. hope this helps and blessings to your mom. Robbie
