CancerCompass message board discussion started by Bayshore on 12/24/2007 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,19106,0.htm Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ Dear All,  Denys was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. Test results show the following: bone scan unremarkable; MRI showed new myeloma sites on her legs (Both Tibias', Groin and a the Myeloma has formed a plasmacytosis in her Pelvis. It has already grown pass 7 centimeters already. Radiation on the mass in her pelvis has begun along with her legs and groin on an outpatient basis and chemo has stopped while she is getting radiation. She has 5 radiation treatments scheduled which is condensed from 15 treatments because she cannot be off chemo too long. The radiation makes her very tired. She also has a mass on her back about the size of an egg  this  will be biopsied and removed on an outpatient basis during the next two weeks.  Denys prays it isn't Lymphoma.  When Denys resumes the Velcade later this week she will be put on Doxil along with the Velcade. Every day is different for my sister Denys emotionally/psychologically. Sometimes she is very cogent, but she often hallucinates and has trouble making sense, and sometimes she is very depressed. She is on high doses of oxycotton which explains some of this but no morphine drip at home..  She says now she has Radiation Brain very burnt out from all this medication and treatment.  Needless to say Denys nor the rest of my family are not at all into the holiday season this year. This is also really doing a number on my parents as they are both 78yrs old nearing 79.  Denys is the first born out of six of us.  We are all trying to remain strong but, it is very hard to watch you child or sister having to live with this horrible cancer.  My sister is very strong and refuses to give up.  I love her with all my heart, and miss her sooo much. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year!Love, Susan Bayshore Mon, 24 Dec 2007 00:00:00 GMT My advice is to stay focused on the holiday season and enjoy every moment you have with your sister. I have just had my first Christmas without my husband. Just treasure your time. Last year was rough for us but I never anticipated that it would be our last Christmas together. I guess I just took it for granted. I would suggest to anyone with this disease to live everyday to the fullest no matter how bad it is and never fail to express your love for one another. Your sister's situation is very much like my husband's was but she is still hanging in there. Keep encouraging her. New and better things are being developed everyday. My husband also developed the plasmcytoma's. His started shortly after the transplant. He was avery determined person in so much pain but he never gave up. His plasma cytoma's were on his upper arms and they were the size of golf balls. Your sister is in my prayers. Please keep me posted.
