There seems to be limited information & the posts I have found on here are old. Is there anyone currently going through this out there? My Dad was diagnosed with this a few weeks ago. He is currently going through a combo of chemo & radiation. His doctors have never seen this before in Arizona - looking for resources in AZ, Philly (where I live), or Boston (where the rest of our family is). Please advise? Thanks

RE: Small Cell Bladder Cancer

Small-cell cancer of the urinary bladder is a rare cancer for which more effective treatments are being developed. Because this cancer behaves similarly to small-cell cancer of the lung, researchers have been studying treating SC bladder cancer like SC lung cancer. Recently, researchers found that persons with locally advanced disease responded favorably to a combination of intensive chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Hi, Kathy. I've never heard about small cell bladder cancer, but my wife has been battling metastatic transitional cell cancer (in her lungs), and the oncologist says that it's acting strangely for TCC. I'm going to have to learn more about this, and I'd appreciate any information you uncover about it.Thanks.Jack

Glad to hear you are doing better and have only one more treatment left. May I ask what type of chemo was recommended? My Mom has small cell carcinoma of bladder but during chemo experienced pulmonary issues that landed her in hospital. She has done radiation but should continue some type of chemo. We are searching for an alternative to carboplatinum and VP16 as cancer is traveling to spine at T9 and L4 areas and chemo is suggested. Wishing you the best.
