According to my oncologist, there are no markers for Kidney cancer. As a result of this, I've had about 15 CT Scans in 2.5 years to evaluate the state of my cancer. D. J.

Yes! It is stable! I was stable under Sutent for 15 months, then developed pleural effusions (Fluid in the lining of my left lung). That convinced my oncologist that the Sutent had stopped working so we switched to a Chemo combination of Xeloda, Gemzar, and Avastin. We switched in August and that has kept me stable ever since. I have to admit that the "Art" of radiology is imprecise, and CT Scans read by multiple Radiologists will give you inconsistent results. Don't hesitate to call them and demand precise measurements! I've had to call the head of radiology more than once on this issue. For treatments, there are always a lot of options. Get the best oncologist you can, and trust him. NEVER give up hope. D. J.

No significant markers they should say EVERYONE is different.I had a slight knawing pain in my lower right side flank turned out to be a small cancerous renal cell carcinoma and I had a partial nephrectomy because of it. that was 10 yrs. ago. I am now feeling the same pain on my left side, worried it might be in left kidney now. I just got an ultrasound describing a 'cyst' in upper lobe of left kidney. (here we go)I am totally scared again. you may or may not have pain, but if you ARE, then for sure something is going on. I had tons of xrays and ct scans my doctor commented on how many I had, but I was so glad I did.I'm here if you want to talk, Deb

Hi, D.J.Thank you for your positive attitude! yes, I agree, NEVER give up HOPE it's all we have sometimes.I had numerous x-rays also and they were so inconsistent, some said I had cancer, others not. This was 11 yrs. ago. I had a partial nephrectomy of my rt. kidney and now they are finding a cyst in the left kidney undiagnosed as yet. I am praying it is not Cancer again.I did not receive any medication, just surgery, and I am hoping I don't have to go thru all that again. I hope you are doing well and, please, if you want to discuss, feel free to respond. I like to keep in touch with those who understand what I am going through. Have a great New year, and HOPE IS IMPORTANTDeb
