My mother MAY have missed a dose of dexamethasone. ADVISE please

My mother is on revlimid and dexamethasone. She takes the revlimid every day for three weeks. She takes the dex every saturday (10 pills). Yesterday I noticed after giving her the final dose of the month that she had ten pills left. I'm usually very good at making sure she takes the dex on Saturday, however two weeks ago we moved (we found out an hour before hand that the people who were supposed to move us on Sunday are moving us on Saturday). This messed up the rhythm of the morning and quite possibly is when she didn't take the dex (although I thought she took it that morning)....or there is an off chance that the pharmacy messed up, gave her too much. That happens right? This morning my mother was up at 2:30 am with the light on in her room. I asked her what was going on, she said she couldn't sleep. This morning, she was mumbling. She's acting strange as a result of this medication. This is the first time I'm noticing this. One the thalidomide (sister drug to revlimid), my mother was psychotic and had to be hospitalized twice. So, bottom line is that my mother asked me for the leftover dexamethasone. I asked why and she said she wanted to put it with her meds. I gave it to her and saw her opening the bottle. I asked her what she was doing and she mumbled something about taking the meds. I told her that she should check w/ the doctor's office first. She yelled at me that she wasnt' goign to wait and had to take it. I took the pills from her in a struggle (she wouldn't let go) but I don't want her taking them without consulting w/ her doctor's. I left a messsagee w/ 2 of the nurses there but I wanted advice here. Has anybody ever missed a dose of dexamethasone while on revlimid? What did you do? How long was it till you realized?I am going crazy here. My mother is acting very strange and saying hurtful things.

Given that your mom has experienced psychotic episodes when using the other drugs, perhaps missing the dex. is having an effect. I just wanted to let you know that I have been taking Revlimid for 17 months now without dex. and have had NO problems, so having missed just one lot of the dex. shouldn't affect her paraprotein levels much at all. However, because of the psychotic behaviour I would advise getting in contact with your doctor tomorrow (after New Years Day) to advise him of the situation and seek his recommendations. Best wishes to you both! Cath
