He has a checkup with his oncologist tomorrow (mostly for bloodwork).  Is there anything in particular I should ask about at this point?  Any advise by those who had thier initial checkup after starting with sutent would help.  Thanks & Happy New Yrs to all. amsp00 Tue, 01 Jan 2008 00:00:00 GMT I would advise to have you or your Dad ask the oncologist if he should also be checked by a cardiologist while on Sutant. From what I have read some patients are followed up with a cardiologist and some aren't. The scan will establish a baseline for the efficiency of your dad's heart function. One of the negative side effects of Sutent is it can possibly cause damage to your heart. I just recently had my 3rd MUGA Scan having been on Sutent for over a year now. My oncologist said he had another patient that had suffered damage to his heart from the Sutent.
