Efudex on arms and legs

I am beginning my treatment finally around Jan. 14th. I decided to postpone from Oct because of my trip in Dec and then my daughter, her husband and my grandbaby had to move in while they finished building their house and they should move out around Jan. 14th. My granddaughter is 4 and she is in my lap all the time and it would not have been a pleasant ordeal not that its going to be pleasant but I did not want to do it with her there either. How was anyone's reaction using on the arms and legs? I understand the skin is supposed to be tougher than the face so I am hoping thats true. I have to work and was wondering about clothes as well how does it feel to wear them? If anyone has pic's of the arms and legs during treatment I would love to see them so I can know what to expect. Thanks,Tanya

RE: Efudex on arms and legs

I WENT THROUGH THE EFUDEX TREATREATMENT IN JULY. I HIGHLY WOULD RECOMEND THAT YOU DO DO LEGS OR ARMS, NOT BOTH AT SAME TIME. I BECAME ALLERGIC TO THE TREATMENT AND THERE IS NO STOPPING ONCE STARTED. IT IS A MESS, AND MOST DOCTORS NEGLECT TO WARN YOU AGAINST TOUCHING ANYWHERE ELSE WITH YOUR HANDS, AS IT WILL ATTACK ANYWHERE IT TOUCHES. I CAN NOW SAY THAT I HAVE THE MOST WRINKLE FREE SKIN ON MY FACE, THROAT AND ARMS AND HANDS. I HAVE NEVER HAD GOOD LOOKING SKIN ON MY HANDS, BUT IT IS SMOOTHE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. WEAR GLOVES TO BED! IT SNEAKES INTO YOUR MOUTH AND EYES VERY EASILY, JUST BE CAREFUL. YOU WILL LOVE THE RESULTS, JUST REMEMBER NOT TO EVEN THINK ABOUT EVER GOING OUT INTO THE SUN WITHOUT, LONG SLEEVES, SUN SCREEN AND A BIG FLOPPY HAT. YOU WILL LOOK LIKE A BEE KEEPER, HOWEVER , BEING A GRANDMOTHER FOR A LONG TIME IS WORTH IT. LOTS OF LUCK AND KEEP SMILING, IT HELPS. SIOUX

RE: Efudex on arms and legs

I posted above about "healing", but as others have noted, it is a rough ordeal when doing the arms. Using 5-FU two times a day is a lot of chemo and your skin will really start to get angry right around day 20. With arms or legs the hair requires more application and I finally changed to the solution since cream was very painful to apply as hair "matted".Of course everyone has more or less lessions to clear, but I am very fair and worked and played on the water for 40 years so had hundreds of them "light up". Here is the image I took last Sunday after 28 days.Hang in there! Whiteyhttp://i26.tinypic.com/2nlgspl.jpg

Well, now 4 full weeks after stopping the 5-FU, Efudex 5% two time a day, and below is a photo. For us thick skin - arms/legs folks, this is really a slow heal. Have used the Aquahor, etc., even wrapped light gauze to keep clothing from irritation, but this is taking so long to heal. Still some open sore areas 28 days after stopping application.Any others out there with experience on arms, and info. on healing time??Thanks, WhiteyHere is left arm today - 4 weeks after 4 weeks treatment:http://i26.tinypic.com/34eep2o.jpg
