Ovarex clinical trial stopping

Today I received a call from the clinical trial nurse at my oncologist office. She called to inform me that my Ovarex clinical drug trial was stopping. The manufacturer has determined that the drug was ineffectual and was stopping the trial. I have been on this drug trial since March 2005 and learned today that I was actually receiving the drug. (It was a double blind study). This has been devastating news since I really believe it has helped to keep me in remission from my stage 3 ovarian cancer. Has anyone else received this news that is on the Ovarex study? Thanks for any information. I feel like I just lost my security blanket!Wylieteacher

Please check out these websites for clinical trials. The Mayo Clinic has a ongoing "ovarian cancer" trial using the measles vaccine. It has worked well & if you are interested after visiting those websites, I will show you how to apply for the trial.http://www.isracast.com/tech_news/260106_tech.aspx http://www.oncolyticsbiotech.com/tech.html http://www.neotropix.com/index.htm http://www.outsmartyourcancer.com/ http://discoverysedge.mayo.edu/measles/ http://www.mayoclinic.org/news2007-rst/3954.html http://mayoresearch.mayo.edu/mayo/research/gene_virus_therap http://www.mayoclinic.org/news2007-jax/4309.html

Yes, I was also on the Ovarex study for 18 months here in CA. I learned the study closed just before Christmas, and that I was receiving the placebo. I was told the same results were had by those receiving and not receiving the vaccine. I remain in remission, however, thank God. I would love to find another clinical trial but so far have not been able to. I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC OC in August, 2005.
