RE: help getting sutent treatment

hi i am on sutent and have been for five cycles (four weeks on two weeks off) my right kidney was removed five years last september but on my last scan the cancer had returned to my liver ,,lungs and adreanal gland ,,the one on the liver was 12cm and the other two were four each ,,since being on sutent they have shrunk by half by the third cycle,,my oncologist got me sutent on the nhs citing it was the only drug that was available to keep me alive for longer ,otherwise i would die in about two years plus!! If i was you get the oncologist to write to the special needs department of the nhs in your area, i think they meet once a month to see if they will pay the cost,,if someone else in your area is getting it they cannot refuse your friend ,,,,unless it boils down to age as i am 55 ,,,,i am lucky i have sutent but i think it boils down to age and where you live ,,,,if you have no joy then tell your friend to move to east sussex for the sake of their life ,,,,,,,,all the best and i hope they relent...!
