Hives

Hello. My husband was diagnosed with CLL some time in March 07. He also has type 2 diabetes (diagnosed about 5 years ago) and Hepatitis C. Currently his is under no treatment for the CLL, but is taking meds to treat the Hep C and his diabetes. He is having a tough time dealing, emotionally, spiritually and physically with all these health issues and their individual complications. Recently, he has had to deal with intense itching all over his body (even his scalp) that the doctor diagnosed as hives but could not really say where they might be coming from. Anyone here dealing with hives due to CLL? If so, would love to know how you are dealing with it to help my husband cope. Thanks in advance.

I too am not being treated yet. I am a 43 yr old female. Anyway,.... I go through periods of itchyness all over including my scalp like your husband but not severe and I know its not hives. It seems to me I read somewhere and I was also told by my oncologist that sometimes some people experience being ichy with CLL. He also has said that occaisionaly unexplained rashes can also appear with some people who have CLL. I am sorry that I dont have any info on how to help make the iching better I never asked about that. I happen to be lucky enough to have one of the top oncologists in the country for CLL and next time I see him I will ask him about this if you would like me to. My next appointment isnt untill early March 08. Take careBecky

Hi Becky, Thank you for replying. Since posting, I have done a bit more research and found mild to intense itching and rashes are associated with CLL. With lots and lots of moisturizing and some new anti-itch medication, he has gotten some relief.Your reply was very helpful and I thank you for offering to check with your doctor. You are very kind.Maggie

Hi Becky, I too am a young women (46) that has been diagnosed with CLL and haven't started treatment either. Still in the watch & wait stage. I was wondering if you could share with me some of your dietary changes that you've made. I seem to struggle with this. I have these urges for sugar and I know this isnt good because cancer feeds off the sugar. I'm open for any suggestions.. or other advice you may have. Thanks for your time.. Lisa
