Stomach cancer spread to liver

I have just been told that i have liver cancer that has spread from the stomach cancer. ?December 2006 I had 80% of my stomach removed. i had chemo and radiation treatments, and right now I am feeling really good. the tumer is about 2 inches long. I have another PET scan next Friday and then see a surgeon the 17th. the cancer doctor thought it would be able to be removed. Hopefully so. I know nothing about liver cancer. Do they treat it with chemo and radiation. the radiation for the stomach about did me in, it was very very rough. I have lost 70 pounds in the last year and the radiation doctor told me if I get down to 100 pounds that I will need the feeding tube again. To say the least I am scared, mad and confused about what is going to happen next. the waiting is horrible for me and my family. I hate putting my kids and husband through this again. They all have been so supportive and wonderful.

I am sorry to hear about what is happening with you. Maybe I can answer some of your question as I do have experience with liver cancer. If the liver tumor is in an area away from blood vessels, they would remove it possibly along with a piece of liver during surgery. Usually, chemo and radiation is not used in liver cancer but there are exceptions. I had a primary liver cancer that was able to be removed and I am one year cancer free. The resection surgery went well. They tell you it takes 6 weeks to recover but I am here to tell you, it takes longer than that. At 6 weeks you feel ok and are up and about but your entire system has to recover. i still have digestive issues from time to time now. I wish you all the best. Iris

I should find out this afternoon what the scan shows. My doctor said it might determine if we keep doing the chemo or stop it. I am not ready to quit fighting, so he better have something in mind. I will update this tonight, or tomorrow.

I had a liver biopsy a few weeks ago. the doctor thought the way that the tumor was growing it looked like a primary tumor. Well we are still waiting for the results, from what he has gotten back already he said it is from the stomach. So surgery is out. When I went to my oncologist in my home town yesterday he said we need to do surgery. He said if the first 2 doses did not do what it was suppose to, then the next chemo medicine will not be as strong as that, and I may not respond to it at all. So one doctor is going to call the other doctor and decide the best treatment. So I wait again.
