RE: husband lost battle

Hi Kim You wanted to hear about my angel of a husbands battle. It began in 2005 with pain in side went to ER and they thought he had kidney stones but then the scan showed the renal cell 4 cent tumor on left kidney and large lymph nodes in abb. We thought he would be ok because I had the same cancer in the same kidney when I was 19 years old had left kidney removed and was ok. But that was not the case. After his operation to have left kidney removed the Dr thought he got it all. He said he would keep and eye on him. All follow ups were good until April 2007 the Radiolagist told us everything was ok we left his office got home and he was on our anwering machine to give him a call. I called him back and he said he read the wrong ct scan and that Vince had some large lymph nodes, I said well what does that mean he said I think its back. Went to oncologist from there and my husband had no pain was feeling great started on sutent and it did not work so started torisel and 6 weeks later husband in severe pain found out it moved into more lymph nodes started nexavar august 31 and he stopped eating I thought it was from medicine lost alot of weight had alot of pain in leg could not lay down for over 2 months pain was to severe even with meds went back to Dr beging of november they told him to eat and drink they gave him blood and fluids I brought him back home and had to go November 14 for ct scan and the Dr came and told me he had 2 to 5 days to live I was in shock I new My husband was sick but never expected that. I begged them not to tell him because I didnt want him to be scared. Now I feel so guilty for that because I feel that I lied to him . He was only 40 years old just turned 40 in september He was my whole life and I loved him very much. He was my true hero . We would pray for everyone on here every day and I will continue to pray for all of you . My husband just happened to have a very mutated for of renal cell that did not respond to the newest treatments. That does not mean these meds will not work for any of you the are known to help many people, so please stay possitive because my husband is our angel now looking over all of us. When we would go for his treatments he always felt bad and prayed for everybody else so I know he is up there pulling for all of you. I am getting fund raisers together so we can fight this nasty beast because I am not going to let it get away with taking my beautiful baby from me . God bless all Johna

Hello JohnaPa : Ive been away from the board for a few weeks, when i clicked on this morning and read your story about your hubby's battle, it really rang bells. My beautiful hubby passed away last July, like yours, he had his left kidney removed in Nov 2006, the tumour had crushed his spleen, so that had to come out too. He was such a brave, brave man, and we adored him. He fought like a trojan and wanted to beat this AWFUL disease, but interferon and sutent couldnt save him. He developed sepsis and his immune system just couldnt cope with that typeof infection and he was gone in 3 days. Its been nearly 7 months and i still cant accept it. I want him to walk through the door and give me a smile. He was such a fun loving man and me and my kids miss him terribly. My thoughts are with you, I do know what you are going through and nothing anyone can say or do can ease that terrible hurt and anger that our lives have been so badly messed up. Your husband was so tragically young, with so much of life left to live, WHY, WHY, WHY??? There is no answer. Luv J x x
