Organic Diets and MultiVitamin

Greetings. My husband was just dx with Stage IV Hepatocellular and told that he has 6 months to a year. We have a 5 and 2 year old boys and we are not willing to accept that dx and are praying and fighting our hearts out to seek a treatment that is best. Since we are in the beginning stages I'm still fact finding trying to understand which direction is best. We currently live in Kansas and he is being treated at KU Med Cancer Center. One of the options we have right now is a Clinical Trials that is looking at Avastin and Tarceva. When I complete this post I plan on faxing his paperwork to M.D. Anderson to see what treatment options that have available. My question is how many of you are on all organic diets or living organic lives and do you believe this is helping with the cancer. I also would like to know if you are taking multivitamins, which type and if this is working. Thanks in Advance for you help. Kimberly

My family and I have been in Texas since the beginning of February at M.D. Anderson. I can not say enough good stuff about M.D. Anderson and its staff it is an awesome place to be!Well there are a number of things that we're doing. I am now trying to start Greg on a Macrobiotic Diet with the help of a counselor. Greg has cut out all sugars (including natural ones like fruits), no meat and no dairy (we are weaning him off of eggs, a couple of times a week he eats egg white omelettes). Most of his diet are vegetables and whole grains. Within a day's meal he must have one serving of miso, beans and seaweed and at least two servings of vegetables a day. Of course I don't want to take him to fast because this is all new to both of us so I'm also trying to slowly start him on a number of supplements, ie. food based multi vitamin, B complex, etc. There are also different spices I use like turmeric and garlic. There are also a couple of teas that I've started him on twig tea and dandelion tea. Then there are some of the basic eating habits like not eating three hours before bed and chewing your food well. Of course exercise and a good night's rest is always important to this whole process. What our counselor said is that our main function is to rebuild and restore his immune system so that his own body will help him fight off the cancer. I hope this helps you and your family. If you have any additional questions I will be happy to do what I can. Kimberly
