I've been "staged"

The report from my endorectal ultrasound indicates I have stage 2 T2 NO MO rectal carcinoma. It is distal which is good, no involvement in lymph nodes, no metastisis also good, so I have a lot to be thankful for. I have an excellent colorectal surgeon who I will see on Tuesday again. It looks as if I will not have to go through prechemotherapy or radiation. Thanks to all for notes, prayers, and encouragement. Write me with anything you have to say. Information is always good. :)

I have been told that I have to have my rectum removed to get the nodes so they can stage the cancer. I know I have a .9cm T2, N? M0 from all the test so far. I have been told I have a 25% risk of node involvement and their clinical recommendation is to remove everything and have a permanent colostomy bag. I am weighing the rick at this time.

I am weighing the rick at this time.I would definately get a second opinion. I found out that most of my tumor is a stage 2, but there were two spots that were a 3, so they must treat me as a 3. They found out my stage from doing a endorectal ultrasound. I will have my surgery in 5 weeks (they will remove some lymph nodes during surgery), because I'm just ending my 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. But, they told me that I will have a colostomy for only 4 months and then have everything switched back around. This is why I think I'd get another opinion. I had 3 opinions before deciding what I wanted to do.I hope this helps.

I think i might have something else going on so will see my doc tomorrow.
